So today was the end of  1st semester and that means… I’m officially half way done with high school. I have three semesters of my 6 semester time at school. Now lets weigh the good and bad of this.

The Rockin Good:

  • No more of those kids who don’t care about school.
  • No more school lunch!
  • No more busy work.
  • Independence!
  • No more of the early morning classes. (In college you pick what time you go to school)
  • No more being treated like a kid.

The Awful Bad:

  • Independence
  • No money
  • No more being treated like a kid. (More responsibility)
  • No food anymore
  • Text books: $80+
  • Your an adult, you can’t do anything illegal without the chance of getting arrested.
  • You have to pay to wash your clothes
  • You don’t HAVE to go to school. It’s a choice.
  • Finals week.

Ah it could go on. But yet, I don’t want to be a downer. I really am excited to go to college and have a change in scenery. I have lived the same place my whole life and it gets a little boring. I’m ready for a new lifestyle all my own. WHOO COLLEGE!

“Happy winter break! Here’s a ninety question take home test!”

That is what my History teacher said the week before break. As you can guess, there was a collective groan from my whole class. There should be a law that  states that homework over school breaks is illegal. Instead, many people are for it. Especially teachers. (Go figure!) Don’t we students get sick of pointless homework? Some homework is good and we can recognize it for it’s benefit. But some of it is just lame busy work. Why not just get rid of all homework and do all those types of things in school? Then, all you’ve got to do is study and that doesn’t happen ever anyways for most people. Then, there would never be some project at the back of your mind during a long break when you would much rather be thinking of other things.

To bad that’ll never happen. Parents and teachers who don’t have to do homework, like it. The end. Nothing we can do will make them listen.
